Patrick Dovigi is the founder, president, CEO and chairman of the board of directors of GFL Environmental Inc., a Canadian multi-sector environmental services company headquartered in Vaughan, Ontario.

In 2007, Patrick had a vision to create a company that would serve as a one-stop shop for environmental solutions. Drawing on the discipline he developed during his earlier hockey career, he has since led GFL to become the fourth-largest environmental services company in North America. He has instilled an entrepreneurial culture within the company’s leadership team, with a strong focus on operational excellence, sustainability and safety as core values.

In 2017, Patrick was recognized with a Waste360 40 Under 40 award. That same year, he was named Entrepreneur of the Year in the Power & Utilities sector at the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Ontario Awards.

Patrick is also passionate about giving back to the communities GFL serves. In addition to regularly supporting charities focused on family and health initiatives, he donated $5 million in 2019 to help establish the Dovigi Family Sports Medicine Clinic, a first-of-its-kind facility for sports medicine research and care for individuals with sports-related injuries.

He is a devoted father of five and currently serves on the board of directors of the Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation.
